The crew discuss Joe Sakic, Mats Sundin and the topic of retirement decisions. Things get a bit heated when Bill and Grant talk Patrick Roy and the Montreal Canadiens, but everyone agrees that the Alexander Radulov situation is being handled very well by the Predators. A few other tidbits of news also happen to creep in among the madness.

By Grant Beery • Jun 27th, 2008 • Category: The Weekly Deke

There’s a full house on this extra long edition of the Weekly Deke! The usual suspects, Grant, Bill, Alan, and Chris are joined by Eric Butler of Nosebleed Radio fame and regular live chatter PioneerHall. We give the listeners insight from the cheap seats about the 2008 Draft that took place in Ottawa on June 20th and 21st. Barry Melrose and his new job in Tampa Bay, free agency, divisional matchups, and the Love Guru are also topics on conversation this week.

The season is over, and the hockey news is getting slim… but we’re still here! Bill, Alan, Chris, and Grant are joined this week by the Bartons of “From the Hauler to the Track” fame as they discuss the 2008 Draft, more coaching news, and the icing rule.

This week, Grant, Bill, Alan, Chris, and Nosebleed Radio regular Eric Butler discuss the success of the Penguins in the triple OT game 5 against the Red Wings. They also update the listeners on the coaching vacancies throughout the league, including where Barry Melrose might fit in. Also, the Winter Classic has a new home for 2009, and the ratings for the Stanley Cup Finals are looking up.

Chicago to Host Next Winter Classic

By Grant Beery • May 30th, 2008 • Category: Daily Deke

TSN is reporting that they have confirmed the city that will host the next NHL Winter Classic. The Detroit Red Wings will play the Chicago Blackhawks at either Wrigley Field or Soldier Field. While the exact spot hasn’t been announced, Blackhawks president John McDonough has close ties to the Cubs, so I would expect it to take place at Wrigley Field.

The Weekly Deke #8: Bettman and the Benjamins

By Grant Beery • May 28th, 2008 • Category: The Weekly Deke

This Memorial Day show is doozy. Not only has the Ice Junkies team become a part of the Daily Deke team, but some heated discussions have found their way into this week’s episode of TWeekD. Bill, Chris, Alan, and Grant talk Cup Finals and why Pittsburgh can’t score a goal against Detroit. The guy also take a look at the first and only commissioner of the league and give their thoughts on his performance.

The Daily Deke is Growing!

By Grant Beery • May 28th, 2008 • Category: Daily Deke

Big news on the blogging front over here at DailyDeke.com! I’d like to formally welcome Bill and Clint of Ice Junkies (icejunkies.blogspot.com) to the Daily Deke team! This will add quite a bit more regularity to the blog, which admittedly has suffered since the Weekly Deke has started up. Now you can expect excellent hockey coverage however you want it!
