The next Winter Classic will be a windy one as well.

TSN is reporting that they have confirmed the city that will host the next NHL Winter Classic. The Detroit Red Wings will play the Chicago Blackhawks at either Wrigley Field or Soldier Field. While the exact spot hasn’t been announced, Blackhawks president John McDonough has close ties to the Cubs, so I would expect it to take place at Wrigley Field.

Gary Bettman was quoted as saying Chicago made sense as a venue for the next game. New York, however, was looked as the favorite due to the availability of Yankee Stadium just before it’s to be demolished.

Other cities being considered included Denver, Boston, Detroit, Montreal, Toronto, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia.
