China, The Torch, and Human Rights

By Chris Lucas • Apr 11th, 2008 • Category: Big Story, Other Sports

So no doubt you have heard about the demonstrations that have been occurring during the torch runs both here in the U.S. and the around the globe. I want to make perfectly clear that I believe that all human rights issues are important. I think that Tibetans, actually all people, should be free to practice whatever they believe. However, I think that the current protests will do little to impact the way that China handles this and future situations.

Why Do We Hate the Olympics?

What about the Games makes us cringe so? Better: what about the Olympics makes it so easy to attack the Games for seemingly any reason at all?

16 Seeds and Real March Madness

By Paul Barton • Mar 22nd, 2008 • Category: Big Story, College Basketball

In the past I would always overlook the 16 seeds in each bracket and laugh, “What alphabet soup school made it in this year?” Well, this year it was my school, and I am so proud of the guys that are playing their butts off against Memphis, but still losing 45-31 at halftime. I have met these guys in class. They told my girl she did a great job jumping rope during their halftime. I have a new respect for those teams that only have one way in and make it, even those who don’t.

Breaking Down the Brackets

It’s here. The conference tournaments are done, the seedings and pairings are set and now we just wait for the greatest three weeks in college sports! Below is a break down of each of the brackets as I see them, I won’t bother going into who didn’t get in. I think who gets in is far more important! (Note to ESPN: I know you have to fill a couple of hours of TV, but spending so much time bitching about who didn’t get in over who did only diminishes the hard work of the tourney teams; let the kids enjoy it.)

Get Ready for March Madness; Sign-Up for NB Tournament Pick ‘Em

By Chris Roberts • Mar 16th, 2008 • Category: Big Story, Games and Tournaments

March is the most exciting time of the year for college hoops fans. While you might not be out on the court, you can get in on the excitement (in a small, remote way) by picking a bracket in Nosebleed’s Tournament Pick ‘Em!

Green Bay Packers, What Happens Next

By Chris Lucas • Mar 6th, 2008 • Category: Big Story, Football

The retiring of legends usually takes its toll on teams. The Denver Broncos have only won 4 playoff games since Elway retired, the 49ers have been struggling and are just now getting on track since Steve Young retired, The Dallas Cowboys have had 11 QBs before seemingly finding the next heir apparent in Tony Romo. So can a team that has so much promise lose their Hall of Fame QB and still make the playoffs?
